When I first began my marathon training I had no idea what was ahead. Sure, I knew that I was going to be putting my body through a lot but I didn’t realize just how tired I was going to be at times.
As runners we go through phases. Some weeks we feel really good and on top of the world while other weeks it seems we can never wake up.
A few weeks ago, thanks to a partnership with FitFluential I was sent a FRS Two-10 Discovery Challenge Pack.

I’ve tried FRS in the past and loved it, but it had been a while so I thought this would be the perfect time as I was nearing the end of training and getting closer to race day to try it out.
My energy levels vary throughout the day. Of course, I am usually tired when my alarm goes off anywhere between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM every morning. After I finish my workout I usually have a bit more energy and am motivated and ready to start the day.
The biggest energy slump during my day usually hits me around 3:00 pm, which is also typically the busiest time of day for me so I really don’t have time for my body to be dragging.
It’s always been a struggle to keep my energy levels where they should be from 4:00 AM until 9:00-10:00 PM when I finally call it a day.
I began using the FRS products during my last full on week of training. I knew I needed a little boost of energy to get through it and get into my 2 week taper.
Before I get into how I used the products, lets talk a little bit about FRS products.
What is FRS?
The idea behind FRS Healthy Energy is their patented formula that uses antioxidants and vitamins to help work with your body at the cellular level, unlike the traditional energy products that rely on chemicals, sugar and large doses of caffeine to create energy spikes.
The formula was originally designed and tested by health scientists as an effective way to deliver natural, sustained energy to chemotherapy patients.
The formula delivers all-natural antioxidants quercetin (found in blueberries and apples) and green tea extract, plus seven essential vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C and E.)
There is a small amount of caffeine found in FRS (the equivalent of 1.5 – 4 ounces of coffee) and is not used as a primary source of improved energy but rather acts as a metabolic enhance to help kick-start to FRS formula.
FRS does NOT contain any preservatives or artificial flavors.
What are the benefits of using FRS?

The 10 day pack comes with several different components as I mentioned above. The first product I used was the FRS Concentrate.
The directions on the bottle state to take the concentrate once in the morning, afternoon and then at night. I usually ended up taking this twice per day.
If it were a week day morning where I began my run around 4:00 AM I didn’t take it pre-workout. I usually run these fasted and don’t like taking in a ton of liquid right before the run. I drank it right after I finished my run before I headed into work.
I would then take it again in the evening after dinner. I usually have about 2-3 hours when I get home to really get my work done. I wanted to try to maximize my energy levels during this time.
During the weekend and before long workouts I would drink this about 30-40 minutes before starting my run.
I found the flavor to be really delicious! The color is a mustard yellow which threw me off at first, but I really enjoyed drinking it and found it especially refreshing in the morning!
The first day I wasn’t sure I noticed much of a difference, but as I continued taking it I began to find myself much more focused and less distracted. My energy levels tended to be more sustained instead of having a big crash after an hour or two.
I did notice some sustained energy during the weekend runs I took it during, however, to really see noticeable results you would need to make sure to take more than 1 serving.
The FRS Drink was the second product I tried in the bunch. I admit I was a little hesitant at first since I have not been a fan of “energy drinks” in the past. I knew that FRS did not contain the huge amounts of sugar that others did, but I’ve never really found an energy drink that tasted halfway decent. To me, 90% of them taste like cough syrup.
I was able to try out two different flavors of the FRS drink:
- Strawberry Kiwi
- Wild Berry
I have to say I was more of a fan of the Wild Berry, but both were much better than any other type energy drink I have tried in the past.
These were used primarily while at work. I don’t like drink an entire one at one time, so I sipped on it throughout the day as I needed an extra boost of energy.
I used this as my “3 o’clock pick me up” many days and it really did seem to help keep me focused and energized until I left around 5:00.
Finally, the last product in the bunch are the FRS Soft Chews.
I had high hopes of getting a picture of these when I first got them but they sat on the counter an hour too long and my husband already managed to get into them!
I always took the soft chews before a run. I notice that most of the time when it comes to me, chews don’t seem to irritate my stomach too much. I also can usually take them within 5-10 minutes of heading out to run which is more ideal when I am having to get a run in early in the morning.
Both myself and my husband loved the flavor and used these primarily before longer runs or harder workouts.
I loved being able to take part in the FRS Two-10 Discovery Challenge! During marathon training, working full time and working part time at home it makes for some long days!
Being able to use the FRS products have helped me sustain my energy levels throughout the day, keeping me productive and focused.
