In the hustle and bustle of Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving often gets overlooked somehow. I’m not quite sure why because it is a holiday I absolutely love.
This year is very special to us. Aside from all the wonderful things we are thankful for, it is also the first year in FOUR years that we are able to go home for Thanksgiving. We are able to see both of our families on the same day and actually sit down at the table with them. The past 4 years we have only been able to chat over the computer. It just isn’t the same.
In honor of this special holiday, and just as I did last year on this day, I want to list out and recognize some of the many things I am thankful for.
Running
I don’t think this needs much explanation. The thing I am most thankful for when it comes to running this year is that I am healthy. This time last year I couldn’t say as much. This morning I will go out for my last 10 mile tempo run before my marathon. If you would have told me that last year I probably would have laughed.
Goals are great, dreams are great but at the end of the day I am simply most thankful to just be running.
My Husband
I am thankful every single day that I get to spend my life with this man. He challenges me, encourages me, loves me, laughs with me, cries with me, and everything in between. Life is infinitely better because he is in it.
Some days when we get busy and don’t get to see each other for days on end, I just remind myself how thankful I am to get to spend my life with him. There is no one else I would ever want to go through this crazy ride with.
My Job
Another area of my life looking back to last year that was drastically different. I was working small part time jobs at the time just to make ends meet and make it through. I had no idea where I’d end up or what I’d be doing, but I was very frustrated and trying to make the best of it.
This year I am blessed with a full time job as well as my own business. I have come so far in the last year and I am thankful each day for what I have been blessed with.
Gorman, Izzy, Zoe and Piper
These little fur devils really do complete my life. To some it may not make sense, but they bring a smile to my face every single day and I can’t begin to express how much that means to me.
They are crazy and frustrating at times but they are my babies. I am so blessed and thankful for the joy that they bring to my life.
Family
The support and love of my family over the past year (and lifetime) has meant everything to me. I am blessed with a wonderful family as well as marrying into a wonderful family. I don’t know where I would be or what I would do without them.
YOU
Just like last year I am thankful for each and every one of you. I have shared so many ups and downs throughout the past 1.5-2 years I’ve been blogging and your support has meant the world to me. This blog has been such an outlet for me, through the good and the bad, and in so many ways has been like therapy to me.
So thank you.
I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Enjoy the time and celebrate the wonderful things in your life. We are blessed in many ways!
Happy Thanksgiving!
It’s so nice to hear that things have gotten so much better for you over the past year! Running is definitely something to be grateful for. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!!! And congrats on your new job 🙂
I have an early dinner with my family and then I am off to work- the perks of working in retail! But first I run!!!
Hope you survived! I can’t even imagine! 🙂
Have a happy Thanksgiving! And as always…
Run with joy!
