This morning was all about recovery.

I woke up and got started on my run about 6:30 – I know right, who am I!?

The husband had a running date with a friend of his so I thought I might as well get up and get the day started since I had a ton to do to get ready for my family coming in tomorrow.

I typically run about 7 on Friday’s, but as the morning started I had a feeling that was going to get cut down.

I started outside trying to run aimlessly for the 7 miles, but my hip was REALLY bothering me.  It wasn’t dull pain either it was shooing right down my leg.

I went back inside with every intention of just calling it a rest day. As you know that is really hard for me to do.

I came upstairs, stretched, and the guilt started to kick in a little bit. I also had a treadmill staring me in the face.

I decided I would give the run one more go and the minute my hip started hurting I would stop. I started running and after about .20 miles my hip loosened up and was ready to go.

I stayed around a 9:30 pace for most of the run and made sure to not push it too hard.

This morning my home treadmill was a life savor (or should I say run savor).  I usually give it a bad name, but on days like today it was exactly what my body and mind needed.

I also think the poster I put beside our treadmill also helped to give me some motivation. Whenever I don’t want to run it is a constant reminder of what I am training for.

As I mentioned earlier I have family coming into town tomorrow so I have a ton of errands and cleaning to get taken care of today.  Leave it to me to put it off until the day before to get it started.

My first stop was the auto shop to take my car in to have some service work done. I waited about 20-30 minutes for the husband to come get me so I enjoyed a free cup of coffee and started reading “Born To Run.”

I posted on Instagram last night to get some thoughts on this book and so far everyone has raved about it so I thought I would give it a try.

I’m off to be productive! Happy Friday!

What are some of your favorite running books? I am always looking for new reads
