Week after week goes by and it starts to get more and more real. Not only for the fact that my belly continues to grow, but I realize just how quickly December is approaching. I was also contacted this week about a baby shower and I can hardly believe that we are even at the point where that is being discussed.

Baby in Week 22

22 Weeks: This week our little boy is the size of a spaghetti squash roughly 8 inches and he officially has hit the 1 lb mark!

There is absolutely NO hiding the belly anymore, even though I think it feels much bigger to me than it looks to others.

Weight Gained: I haven’t weighed myself lately, but will have my next doctor’s appointment next week to get an update. I am going to guess I’m somewhere around 12 lbs up but not quite sure. I really try hard not to worry about it as long as I am taking care of myself, being active, and eating well (for the most part).

Symptoms: The only symptom still I am having consistently is being tired. I really wish this would go away but like I’ve said before I really don’t think I have a chance of this going anywhere anytime soon. I’ve learned that even getting to close your eyes for 10 minutes on my lunch break can greatly help but between 2:00-4:00 each afternoon is really a struggle!

Food Aversions: None, I’ve been pretty good with anything. The only things I don’t like are the same things I didn’t like before becoming pregnant.

Food Cravings: This week I’ve been all about ice cream. It’s bad. I need someone to come and take all of the ice cream out of our house and quickly.

Sleep: Sleep is still off and on depending on the night. I sleep well once I go to sleep but I wake up several times a night and then am tired throughout the day no matter how much sleep I get. It could be a lot worse so I’ll take it.

Baby Items Purchased: Let’s see the only items we have so far are: diaper bag (more to come on that), a few onesies, one box of diapers, a box of wipes, and some books. Yeah – we have a LOT to do!

Exciting Things Happening This Week:  I finally felt some real kicks! I haven’t felt much up until the past week or so and then all the sudden the past week it’s really picked up! It’s still not consistent but excited to feel this little man!

Looking Forward To: This week we have our next doctor’s appointment, which shouldn’t be too exciting but it’s always good to get a checkup and hear the heartbeat. I’ve also finally got the future nursery cleaned out and ready for painting! I am looking forward to finally really getting started on this nursery.

Running in Week 22

Running this week was pretty much the same as the past couple; however, I can definitely feel the extra weight now when I am running. Some days it is harder than others but that’s typical with any type of running. I’ve learned to really slow down if I need to and ignore pace completely. Some days I feel great and can even run 8:00 min mile intervals and other days I’m struggling to make it up the road at a 10:30 pace.

Here is a breakdown of my running this week:

Screen Shot 2016-08-06 at 4.20.35 PM

Monday – 6.15 miles outside

Tuesday – 6.15 miles outside

Wednesday – 4.25 miles on the treadmill, 20 minutes spinning

Thursday – 6.15 miles outside

Friday – Off

Saturday – 10.10 miles on the track

Sunday – 6 miles outside

I think the biggest thing I am noticing is the increased weight. I am going to need to probably invest in a support belt soon just to make running a bit more comfortable.

I switched things up a bit on Saturday. My husband had a continuing education class to do most of the day, so he was up early and wanted to head to the track to get in a 10 mile tempo. The original plan was to use a treadmill, but our gym doesn’t open early enough on Saturday’s. I did a 4 mile warm up before heading down to the track.

I knew that I can’t really do workouts right now, but I did want to work in some intervals. I opted for 8 x 400 meters moderate (roughly 8:30 pace) with 400 recovery. I did a 2 mile recovery for a total of 10.10 miles for the day. A good run but I was pretty spent by the end of it.
