The countdown is real now folks. I am ending 34 weeks which means on Monday I will only have 5 weeks until my due date. 5 weeks! We are making progress and slowly getting things where they need to be. My husband started working longer hours this week (which will end right before baby is due) but that means that we’ve had to really take advantage of the one day together we have each week to get things ready. Now, without further ado…

Here is a look at week 34!

Baby in Week 34

34 Weeks: This week our little guy is the size of a butternut squash and is roughly 17.7 inches and 4.63 lbs.

I’m feeling big these days, but I know that’s okay. I am just reaching the uncomfortable part of pregnancy.  I apologize for the pajama picture. We worked most of Saturday afternoon and evening putting the nursery together and getting our dresser assembled. By the time I remembered I needed to take a picture, I didn’t feel like changing!

Weight Gained: I had an appoint Thursday and it looks like I am currently up about 23 lbs. To be honest, for some reason it was hard for me to see that number on the scale Thursday. I know it means my baby is growing so I’m not worried, it was just a number I had never imagined seeing before I got pregnant. Thankful though for a healthy growing baby boy!

Symptoms: This week has been a little crazy. The past couple weeks I’ve been having some light cramping but nothing crazy that I was concerned with. Wednesday afternoon I had about 3-4 hours of pretty moderate cramping and back pain and was starting to get a little worried due to how long the cramping lasted. I was checked at my appointment Thursday morning and everything looked fine! They did confirm he is measuring right on track and is head down. I guess it was just my body slowly getting ready for the big day.

Food Aversions:  None. Still loving to eat just about anything!

Food Cravings:  I don’t think I’ve had any particular food cravings, still loving my ice cream but I’ve had to cut back on that a little bit. Maybe just one serving a night instead of two? Ha!

Sleep:  Oh sleep. Some nights are great and then some nights (like Friday night) are terrible. My body temperature is all over the place, I can’t get comfortable on either side, and I just am struggling to stay asleep for more than 1 hour at a time. I still think this is all just preparing me for the future, or at least I like to think it is!

Baby Items Purchased: We’ve actually made a lot of progress! We got our crib now, we bought our dresser this week, and we’ve started stocking up on diapers. Our goal this weekend is to get the dresser up so that I can start sorting through things and getting them ready. The only items we have left to get are a glider (though we have it picked out just need to order), swing, and pack n play.

Exciting Things Happening This Week:  I think the most exciting thing this week is just getting more progress made on the nursery. Our dresser is going to be the biggest task but we will get that knocked out this weekend.

Looking forward To: I’m just looking forward to each week at this point, because it means we are one week closer to meeting our sweet boy!

Running in Week 34

Running was a lot different this week. I talked earlier about making the decision to cut back. I had a plan in mind, but my cramping Wednesday evening caused me to have to alter things a bit. I didn’t run Thursday but instead hopped on the spin bike for 60 minutes to still keep my legs moving. Even though I had a feeling everything was okay, I wanted to confirm with the doctor first so I just played it safe.

Here is a breakdown of my running this week:

Monday – 5.12 miles outside

Tuesday – 2.20 miles on the treadmill, 40 minutes spinning

Wednesday – 5.13 miles outside

Thursday – 60 minutes spinning

Friday – Off

Saturday – 7.05 miles

Sunday – 4 miles

Running isn’t easy these days but I still enjoy it. It still helps me to feel a bit like my old self and I know it is keeping me strong and healthy. My favorite run by far was Saturday just because I can run during the day light after I have gotten an adequate amount of sleep. I can’t tell you how much sleep helps instead of having to get out of bed at 4:30 AM.

After my spinning break on Thursday and my rest day Friday I was anxious to get back out and run Saturday. I opted for 7 miles. It wasn’t easy and my body is definietly feeling the longer runs a bit more than usual, but overall it felt nice to run!

My miles has obviously cut back this week I averaged right around 24, but I’m OK with that. These last few weeks have a lot of unknowns and for me I’m happy to just still be running!

How did your running go this week?
