These weeks are seriously flying by. However; if some days you ask me I’ll tell you these days are dragging. They say the days are slow but the years are fast right? I can see that! I’ve been dealing with some pretty extreme exhaustion this week which is pretty typical for me, but it just seems at another level. I’m wondering if he I just having a bit of a growth spurt and it’s taking more from me.

Here is a look at week 25!

Baby in Week 25

25 Weeks: This week our baby boy is the size of a Ruabaga. He is measuring around 9 inches and weight around 1.75 lbs.

I’m pretty sure he had a growth spurt this week because I feel bigger! I woke up Wednesday morning feeling like overnight things had changed.

I’m sorry about the pajama bottoms. I forgot to take a picture until late and I’d already changed. Whoops!

Weight Gained:  I haven’t weighed myself since my last Doctor’s appointment. At that point I was up 13 lbs. I will get another update when I go in during week 27 so I can give you a for sure update at that point; however, I’m pretty sure I’m at least 3 or lbs heavier just from this belly of mine!

Symptoms: Exhaustion. I have been fighting it bad this week. I even fell asleep, as in the best sleep I’ve had all week, on my desk chair at work during lunch on Tuesday. I just wanted to clothes my eyes and rest and I was out in about 2 minutes. It’s been pretty rough this week, but just trying to take it a day at a time and do what I can. I’m very grateful I run in the early morning or it probably wouldn’t happen at all.

Food Aversions: None that I can think of. I’m still doing pretty well with just about everything.

Food Cravings:  I still love sweets like cupcakes, cake, and cookies. They definitely aren’t the most nutritious of options, but I do enjoy them from time to time. Ice cream is another big one this week for some reason. We need to get it out of our freezer!

Sleep: Sleep is a tricky thing these days. I still wake up 1-2 times per night to use the bathroom, but besides that I feel like I sleep very well. My body just always seems tired no matter how early I go to bed or how long I sleep. 8 hours used to be perfect for me and now even if I can get that (which isn’t always) I still feel exhausted and like I could sleep another 8 when I wake up. I’ve learned to just go slow and let my body wake up because it definitely takes longer these days.

Baby Items Purchased: We started our registry! My husband surprised me last weekend and didn’t end up having to work Saturday night, so we traveled about 45 minutes away to get our registries started. We are planning on going again next weekend to really get things completed, but it makes me feel better that we have at least made some progress.

Exciting Things Happening This Week:  We are heading to the beach again this weekend. We are trying to fit it in as much as we can in the next month or so since we know once baby is here it won’t be quite as easy. I look forward to some time away and a change of scenery!

Looking forward To: Heading to the beach and sleeping in this weekend!

Running in Week 25

As I’ve said in several of these recaps, as the weeks progress I can feel things getting harder. I’m still doing pretty well but my pace is slowing as my body gets heavier. I’ve also been dealing with this severe exhaustion this week. I’d definitely say even more so than I have in the past. Even though that makes running in the morning pretty much my only option, it does take my body quite some time to get moving.

I’m still just playing it day by day and seeing what my body can do. I’m always prepared to cut a run or slow it down should I need to.

Here is a breakdown of my running this week:

Screen Shot 2016-08-27 at 8.39.08 PM

Monday – 6.2 miles on treadmill

Tuesday – 4.12 miles outside

Wednesday – 6.2 miles on the treadmill

Thursday – 4.13 miles outside

Friday – 9.15 miles on the treadmill

Saturday – Off

Sunday – 6 miles

During these last 6-7 weeks of Chicago Marathon training for my husband, he’s really needed my help on his long runs. The weather is just so hot and at his paces carrying water with him is really hard. I’ve been trying to fit in my runs at different times since I’m not training for anything specific. I opted to get my run done on Friday again this week so that I had Saturday morning free to help him.

Sometimes it’s harder for me on Friday because my body is so used to the rest day, but I try to just go with it and see what my body feels like doing. After I took the chance to sleep in (because after this week I really needed it) I headed down to the hotel gym. I opted to be on treadmill so I could have access to water the entire time. I turned on Netflix, covered up the mileage and time and got to work.

The room was hot and I went through my entire bottle of water by the end. In total I did 9.15 miles. It wasn’t easy but I was happy to have it done.

I made the decision on Thursday evening that last week was probably my last double digit run of this pregnancy. I just felt it was time and as this little boy grows I noticed my body needs more time to recover and it is more taxing. I’m OK with it and was proud of the few double digit runs I did get in.
