Week 21! Wow. I feel like the days pass so slowly but when I look at the calendar and see how quickly December is approaching I have a tiny bit of a heart attack. I know it will all get done but I feel like the weeks are passing and only little things are getting checked off my list.

We did get the couch moved out of the soon-to-be nursery last Saturday during our gender reveal with the help of my Dad and brother which was a BIG thing of my check list! I’ve got a few more things to clear out and then the painting can begin!

Let’s get back to the post though before I get too off track. We were actually in OH this weekend for a family wedding which was a nice little break. Here is a recap of the past week.

Baby in Week 21

21 Weeks: Our little one is the size of an endive (confession: I had to look at one up to know what it was). It’s roughly 10.5 inches long and weighs about 12 oz.

A little pre-rehearsal dinner photo of the bump – my dress is from Figure 8 Maternity.

Weight Gained: I haven’t weighed myself at home and my next appointment is not until August 8th. I’m still guessing I’m around 12 lbs, but I have nothing to really back that up. I’m still trying to eat healthy as much as I can though I’ve been enjoying ice cream a little too much this week and focusing on staying active.

Symptoms: Overall, I can’t complain. I’m still feeling pretty exhausted but I’ve just accepted that I am going to feel that way for the next several years at this point! If it hasn’t gone away by this point in my second trimester I doubt it is going anywhere. I drink a little caffeine on the days I need it, but still am able to stay away from it for the most part.

Food Aversions: The week my decaf coffee was a hit or miss. Some days I would look forward to it the moment I got to work and other days it was not appealing to me at all. I just kind of go with it and see what I feel like each day.

Food Cravings: No real big cravings again this week. We had a bunch of leftover cupcakes from our gender reveal party and I’ve been enjoying those pretty much every night this week. I figure as long as I am balancing it out with healthy options then why not!?

Sleep: Eh, sleep has been hit or miss again this week. I still toss and turn a lot and end up waking up several times during the night either to pee or because I am sleeping on my back, which I’ve learned you aren’t supposed to do after 20 weeks.

Baby Items Purchased: We have been researching a lot more this week. I think I have picked out the stroller, car seat, running stroller, and some items for the nursery but haven’t actually bought any of it yet.

We did decide on the nursery colors:

We are going to keep it fairly simple, and the walls will be a light grey.

We got some really cute books, a stuffed dog/blanket, and onesies from my brother and sister-in-law at our gender reveal party. My mom also got us some of the monthly stickers so we can take pictures along the way once our little one is here!

Exciting Things Happening This Week: We now know what we are having. You can see our reveal post here in case you missed it, but we will be welcoming a precious baby BOY in December!

Looking Forward To: I think the biggest thing I am looking forward to is getting the nursery ready and feeling like I am making progress. My husband and I have a bunch going on in life right now so we really need to sit down and get serious about a few things after we get back in town.

Running in Week 21

This week was a lot like last. I was really tired and sluggish for most my week day runs. Getting up at 4:30 AM is just even harder for my body right now, but I am getting better at just accepting it and moving on. I get frustrated with my slow pace when I see other pregnant mothers rocking really fast paces during their runs, but I just try to remind myself that everyone is different.

I was hovering around my normal weekly mileage until Sunday came around, but more on that in a minute!

Here is a look at week 21:

Monday – 6.14 miles outside

Tuesday – 6.14 miles outside

Wednesday – 4.14 miles outside/20 minutes spinning AM

Thursday – 6.14 miles outside

Friday – Off

Saturday – 11.35 miles on the treadmill

Sunday – Off

Running was tiring but overall went pretty well. I don’t think the tiredness is going anywhere so I’m learning to embrace it with running and just doing what I can.

We were really looking forward to trying a running trail in OH near the wedding we were attending; unfortunatly the weather did just not cooperate. It was dissapointing but we just worked with what we had and that meant a Saturday morning treadmill run.

I did 6.25 miles with alternating hills. The treadmill had a really neat setting where you could follow different paths around the world. I was tiring out from the different inclines so once the treadmill cut off on me I started it back up without much incline and did some intervals consisting of 5 minutes (9:20 pace)/2 minutes (8:34 pace).

Sunday morning did not go quite as well. We had been out late both Friday and Saturday night and not going to bed until after 11:00 pm made this pregnant lady extremely tired. When my husband got up to go run I stayed in bed. I felt guilty, but opted to get in the extra sleep before a long day of travel! In total, I got in just over 33 miles this week.

Week 21 wasn’t perfect, but still consistent!
