This week sure turned out a little differently than I expected. It’s okay though, I ended up on a high note!

Sometimes  I think we push ourselves even when we know we’ve got other things going on that take importance. We want to go, go, go when our bodies are telling us to slow down.

Here is a break down of my week:

Monday

I started the week off on the right foot. The weather had finally cleared up around here and it was time to get back outside!

I laid my clothes out and was ready to tackle a brand new week!

Weekly 3

I ended up doing 8 miles but was pretty tired to start the week off. That is normal having to get back up at 4:30 in the morning again after a week of sleeping in!

Weekly 4

Thankfully Wes got up with me that morning and started the first part with me. This make it substantially either to get moving when you have a running partner!

Tuesday

My focus this week was to begin getting workouts in outside again. It is so much easier in the warm months to get it done, but when winter gets here I tend to revert back to the treadmill for my workouts.

I set up a workout in my Garmin for the first time as well. This is going to be my favorite thing especially once marathon training officially begins again!

I scheduled 8 x 800 with 400 recovery. Of course, warm up and cool down as well. As I began the workout I realized that I was a bit overzealous with the workout.

Weekly 5

The final workout ended up being:

2 mile warm up
6 x 800 with 400 recovery
2 mile cool down

At the end I ended up with just over 9 miles.

Wednesday

Wednesday was outside again! I was so happy to get back out after way too much time indoors last week.

Each day got progressively colder. They were calling for bad weather on Thursday so I knew without a doubt I would be outside just in case it ended up being the last day for a while.

Weekly 2

As I posted on Instagram: it was cold, I was tired but what’s new!? Just over 8 miles in total.

Thursday

Thursday. I wish I could go back and have a do-over but you can only do so much right? In case you missed it, we had a snow “storm” on Wednesday night into Thursday.

Wes was at the hospital for a delivery so I didn’t get to bed quite as early waiting for him. The last time we got a much smaller snow storm our office had opened at 10:00 am. I was pretty sure this was going to happen again….

Snow1
I woke up to plenty of snow, but unfortunately the delay I had been hoping for didn’t happen. I have to leave at 7:30 each morning and I woke up at 6:00. That meant there wasn’t enough time for a workout.

I was pretty bummed most of the day. My husband got out and ran a short 2.5 miles after I got off work with me just to keep my legs moving.

Friday

Even though I debated on adding in the workout I missed on Thursday I decided that I need to keep my rest day as is. Plus I knew work would be especially crazy so a rest day it was!

Saturday

I was determined to have a good run on Saturday. I really didn’t have a plan going into it, but I just knew I wanted a long run and I would wait and see how it felt before I decided on it.

Weekly 1

I ended up doing 14 miles with a few killer hills in an 8:27 average. The first 11-12 miles (until I hit the last big hill) I felt like I was cruising. After the final hill I was feeling it, but finished out the 14 strong!

I was so glad I had a good run, it really redeemed the week for me! It’s amazing what sunlight and 9 hours of sleep will do for you!

Sunday

The plan is 8 easy and slow miles. We will see how it plays out!

I really try to play Sunday by ear so that I don’t feel any pressure to do a certain amount. It’s all based on how well I recover from Saturday.

That’s it. Another running week is complete. I am still a little bummed I only got one of my workouts in this week, I know it was probably for the better!

March is officially here and I am really excited! Not just because we are getting much closer to spring but also because there are some exciting things happening! Ready to see what a new month has in store!

How did your running go this week?

Have you ever skipped a workout?.
