Sorry for the delay in the post yesterday. We were out of town for the day and by the time I realized that my post hadn’t gone up it was almost 9:00 PM! In case you missed it, here is my weekly recap for last week.

We’ve been having a lot of changes going on in our lives recently. Wes graduated from medical school, we packed up and moved to a new city and state and now we are beginning our new journey.

I am starting to learn the importance of really taking advantage of the stage of life you are in. We’ve had a bit of a break recently and have been soaking it up because we know things are going to change.

We’ve spent extra time with family, planned a few weekends away, took time to just relax and really just try to go with each day as it comes.

Sometimes, at least for me, it is easy to get caught up in what we wish we were doing or where we wish we were in life that we miss out on all that is around us.

Life is Gift

I woke up Sunday morning and was automatically stressing about getting in my short run. We had already planned to head down to my in-laws for the afternoon but I knew I needed to get my last run for the week in before heading to spend the day with family.

I immediately caught myself and stopped. Why was I stressing myself out on a day I was supposed to be relaxing and enjoying? I don’t know about any of you, but I often find myself wrapped up in a schedule, or wrapped up in what needs to be done, that I forget to really sit back and enjoy things.

Don't Wish Away Days

As cliche as it may sound these are moments that we will never get back. I will long for these days once the craziness begins again and I don’t want to look back and see that I was too busy in trying to get to the next step that I missed out on this phase of life.

Each phase of our life has a purpose. I whole heartedly believe that. Even the hard phases shape us and make us stronger.

Be Happy for this Moment

I know this post isn’t about what I normally post on, but it is something that has been on my mind a lot lately. I think the quote above sums it up:

“Be happy for this moment, this moment, is your life.”

Do you ever find yourself too focused on the future?

What are some ways you slow yourself down?.
