This week I have been doing a much better job focusing on my strength training.

Each day I make it a point to get at least 20 minutes in either after I finish running or later in the day. I really do enjoy breaking it up sometimes because it allows my body a little bit more time to rest instead of going from one thing to the next.

Yesterday my focus was upper body and core. I don’t do enough of either and after a lot of squats and lunges on Monday I knew that my lower half needed a break.

I started my workout by an easy walk around the track just to get my legs warmed up. They were still a bit stiff.

After I finished I headed over the weight area to complete this workout:

Upper Body and Core Burner Workout

My arms were burning at the end of this. I realized just how long it has been since I have gotten a good upper body workout in. I think I am really starting to enjoy switching things up this week!

After the workout is over I end it with a cool down walk and stretching. Before and after any strength training if I am not coming off a run or biking session I like to make sure to warm up and cool down for at least 5 minutes. This helps to avoid injury and gets your muscles nice and loose!
