Happy Monday! It doesn’t feel quite like a normal Monday to me because we are soaking up our Christmas vaction.

We had our first Christmas party yesterday and had a blast!

Playground

We played outside in 70 degree weather! What is going on?! Please don’t make fun of my Erie paleness, I normally do not see the sun this time of year. Oh, and there was a 4 year old there we didn’t just go to the playground for the heck of it.

Wes

We hung out with family and simply enjoyed the time together.

The original plan was to go to the gym do some light walking and weights this morning but my mother-in-law’s car wouldn’t start so we opted just to go for a 45 minute walk. It was the perfect day for it! It was a nice break, but I will be back in the gym tomorrow!

I have a special treat today.

Remember when I mentioned that I won a pair of Mizuno Wave Rider 17’s from Jacqueline’s blog?

I got to try them out last Saturday! To be honest, I have worn them for every workout I have had since then. Can you tell I really like them?

A long time ago I tried a pair of Mizuno shoes and really didn’t have a good experience. I don’t remember the type because it was probably 6 years ago, but I had stayed clear of them until recently.

A couple months ago I bought a new speed shoe from Mizuno, but it also happened to be around the time I got this little injury, so I never really got a chance to try them out.

When I won these I got really excited. I won’t be wearing speed shoes anytime soon so this gave me an opportunity to try out Mizuno again.

Feel/Support: 5 out of 5

When I first tried on the shoes they felt amazing. It was probably because I haven’t had a new pair of shoes in quite a while. The heel felt a little higher than I was used to, but once I started running I didn’t notice it anymore.

They added just enough support without making them a heavy/clunky shoe.

The shoe itself is about 8.6 oz and is a great every day trainer in my opinion. I wouldn’t race in them but I would use them for every day training runs and long runs.

Color: 4 out of 5

The female version of the Mizuno Wave Rider 17 comes in three different colors:

White – Dark Slate – Dewberry

Dark Slate – Cabbage – Raspberry Rose

Sugar Coral – Aurora – Dark Slate

I was given the White – Dark Slate – Dewberry.

I love the colors and they are very classic, but I have to admit I have been really eyeing the Sugar Coral – Aurora – Dark Slate as well.

Overall I think they have a great variety of colors.

Since I do have a few male readers out there, here are the men’s colors:

White – Black – Fiesta

Black Slate – Bright Marigold – Columbia

Olympic Blue – Cyber Yellow – Dress Blue

Fit: 5 out of 5

I had fallen in love with shoes before I had even tried them out. However, I know from past experience sometimes when I actually try out new running shoes they don’t feel as good as they look.

My Mom always tells a story about when I was little and I didn’t like my shoes I would say: “these shoes haven’t gotten used to my feet yet.” There are shoes that work for my husband that just don’t work for me. Point, everyone has different preferences.

I was a little nervous as I always am when I run in a new shoe, but these did great!

They felt loose enough to where they didn’t rub and cause blisters, but they also stayed snug and were the perfect fit.

Overall: 5 out of 5

This will be a shoe I return to in the future.

I have to say I am glad that I got over my fear of Mizuno and gave these a shot. They are going to be a great addition to my running shoe collection and I can’t wait to be able to use them on training and long runs in the future.

I would highly recommend these! You can check them out on Mizuno’s website.

Have you ever run in Mizuno?

Are there any shoe brands that don’t work for you?
