Week 2 of my new training is complete! On top of that week one of Wes’ new rotation is almost complete which means I am one week closer to having him back around more! One day at a time…..

This week has been a little crazy around here. You know the saying, “when it rains it pours?” well that seems like how its been here. Just one “issue” to deal with after another.  Oh well, I know it can only go up from here!

Here is a look at my running this past week:

Monday

This week instead of five, Monday required me to run 6 miles. The pacing was pretty much the same for most of the week, and I did slightly better at hitting it. Still some work to be done.
Oddly enough my biggest problem is starting too fast. Usually I start plenty slow but now I just seem to get right into it.

Running Week1

My legs felt pretty tired at the beginning of this week. Probably do to the harder 14 miles I had run on Saturday. They progressively got better.

Tuesday

It went back down to 5 miles on Tuesday. There wasn’t really much to report about this one.

Running Week1

I finished it out with 6 x 10 second strides. I ususally do only 6 the day before a workout just to be careful.

Wednesday

Workout day arrived! I actually hadn’t put much thought into the workout until the day arrived. As I mentioned in my last post, I headed to a parking lot not far from my house to get in my mile repeats.

Running Week1

The mile repeats were tough. Once I settled into them they slowly got better. Progress is key!

I finished it up right as the rain started pouring down, so it worked out perfectly!

Thursday

Final easy run of the week and it stuck to 5 miles.

Running Week3

I’ve been keeping it pretty close to home when I have only 5 miles to run which is nice. It was also the first day I was able to wear shorts, which made me so happy! I am really hoping this weather sticks around.

I finished it off with 8 x 10 second strides.

Friday

Per usual, Friday was my rest day. Even though I was resting it was a bit stressul because I had to take my Zoe to an emergency vet appointment.

Running Week2

Poor thing, but she is now feeling much better!

Saturday

I got lucky with the weather almost all week. I guess it was time for a really rainy day to finally come. We woke up hoping slightly that the weather would be wrong. I knew I could run 14 miles on the treadmill, but I just didn’t want to.

Unfortunately, mother nature decided it really wanted to rain.  Wes and I headed to the gym prepared and ready to make our runs happen.

I did two things differently to help break it up: I took the run in 30 minute segments slightly increasing the speed each segment and I drank water every 8 minutes instead of every 6 like I usually do. It wasn’t much but it helped to keep my mind focused on a couple different goals.

Running Week4
In total I did 14.05 miles in just over 2 hours.

Sunday

The plan is an easy 5 miles.

The greatest thing this week was hands down the weather. I am so excited that it plants to stay around as well! On Sunday night when I had originally looked at the forecast it looked as though rain was going to be coming every day.

There was some drizzle on Wednesday during my workout but outside of that it actually didn’t rain on me once during the week! Unfortunately, Saturday was another story, but i’ll take it!

How has your running gone this week?

Have you had good weather?
