This month Brooks Running gave me the opportunity to select an outfit for someone who inspires me.

I have many running inspirations. Friends, family, and even other mamas who are out there chasing their goals day in and day out!

Even though I had a list of people I considered, at the end of the day I knew exactly who I was going to select. Most of you won’t be surprised by my choice either: my husband. Looking back on it, I probably wouldn’t be running today if it weren’t for him.

Wes started running in college after he had to give up collegiate soccer to be able to focus on his studies to get into medical school. As someone who had always been active he wanted to find something to replace it – and that’s how running entered his life.

He ran his first marathon in 3:42:31 at the Marine Corps Marathon and has since worked his way down to a 2:25, even placing 2nd overall in the 2017 Marine Corps Marathon.

To many people looking in, he may just seem like a naturally talented runner. Yes, there is some of that in his success but it is also a lot of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication to the sport which he loves.

For years I watched him run and eventually I thought maybe I should give it a go! I’ll never be at his level, and that’s completely OK with me, but he never ceases to amaze me in his accomplishments and worth ethic all while working hard for our family and being a pretty incredible husband and father.

He wakes up every work morning at 4:00 am. There were mornings during residency that he had to be up at 3:00 AM to be able to get his training in and still be able to get to work on time. After which he’d go and work a 12 hour day or more.

It was only natural that when Brooks offered to outfit my #RunHappy inspiration I didn’t have a very hard decision to make!

So, what does someone who runs 110-120 miles per week select when given the opportunity from Brooks Running?

Men’s Canopy Jacket

Remember that infamous jacket that Desi wore during the 2018 Boston Marathon? It was none other than the Canopy Jacket (in women’s of course).

You can find the women’s version  here.

Brooks Mens Canopy Jacket

The great thing about the Canopy Jacket is it is super light weight and perfectly for those slight cool or drizzly mornings. It keeps you dry while still being light enough to not feel like you are being weighed down.

Men’s Greenlight Tight Nightlife

The Greenlight Tight Nightlife is made for those who run early in the morning (or late at night), so I knew this would be a perfect fit for his training when they showed us the new clothing in Seattle a few weeks ago.

You can find the women’s version here.

While these won’t probably be used too much until the weather turns colder, I’m excited to know he will be well visible during those early morning winter hours while he’s out putting in the miles!

Levitate 2

Wes has worn many Brooks shoes during his training, even before I became a Run Happy Ambassador, but he has never tried the Levitate. They are one of my favorite shoes and since he loves his Launch I really encouraged him to give them a try!

The new updated Levitate 2 have:

  • The Achille’s Guard, a soft foam wrapped in faux-suade, which helps to protection the Achille’s tendon.
  • A soft and stretchy Fit Knit heel collar wrap.
  • An integrated knit eye stay for an adjustable fit
  • A crystal rubber outsole.

All the things you loved about the original Levitate, but now even better!

I have no doubt that this great new Brooks Running gear is going to help keep him safe and running HAPPY! That’s one of the reasons I knew he was the right choice for my Run inspiration because he truly embodies what RUN HAPPY means. The good days, the bad days, and everything in between he never waivers and keeps his head up and looking towards those BIG GOALS that I can’t wait to see him go after in the next 2 years!
