I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Living Proof. I received product samples to facilitate my review and to thank me for my participation.

In the past year and half I have been sharing on here, I doubt you have heard me talk much about my hair (aside from when I cut it off). The main reason for that is because well I’m not too good at it. Let’s start with running.

Running can do some awful things to your hair. For starters, I have every curly hair. Most of you would never know that from looking at my pictures, because I straighten it. I would describe my hair as more “crazy and frizzy” then curly. I wish so badly I could get my hair to look nice curly, but it is even more work than straightening it.

When I run not only does my hair curl and begin looking crazy from the sweat and humidity, but it also knots up and can be very hard to get undone. It’s a constant struggle to keep it healthy and still running day in and day out.

Another fun fact about my hair – I have been turning grey since I was the age of 15. At 16, my mom allowed me to dye my hair for the first time and I have had to do it ever since that day. It’s just one of those necessary evils.

I’ve gone through phases of using different hair products, but haven’t really found anything that I was really excited about. I just used whatever I could find on sale that was for color treated or dry/damaged hair. Pretty simple, nothing fancy.

When I was informed about an opportunity to try out Living Proof I jumped at the chance. A few weekends ago my mother-in-law and I were in Ulta down at the beach and saw the line.

Living Proof

Living Proof recently came out with their new PhD (Perfect Hair Day) line. It’s co-owner and spokesperson is no other than the incredibly beautiful Jennifer Anniston.

So what makes Living Proof different?

“The Living Proof story is a story of beautiful chemistry. An alchemy of brilliant scientists coming together with industry veterans to truly solve beauty problems.

It started back in 2004 when Dr. Bob Langer, MIT Institute Professor and world-renowned biotech inventor, teamed up with Jon Flint and Dr. Amir Nashat, partners in the international venture capital firm Polaris Venture Partners. They took a look at the beauty industry and what was actually in beauty products. They discovered that, for both hair and skin products, the beauty industry has relied on the same off the shelf ingredients, most of them far too ineffective to make any real, long lasting impact. This inspired our founders to create new technologies that would offer women “proof in a bottle,” rather than “hope in a bottle.” So, they assembled a team of scientists from outside the beauty category-scientists from pharma, biotech and medicine – who didn’t have any preconceived notions of what could or couldn’t be possible in beauty. But the beautiful chemistry didn’t end there. An ingenious collaboration was born when the scientists teamed up with beauty experts like celebrity hair stylist Ward Stegerhoek and entrepreneurial stylist Mitch Derosa, iconic industry veterans who knew women’s struggles with traditional beauty products. Beauty met brilliant science, and Living Proof was born.”

What is the PhD (Perfect Hair Day) line?

The PhD line is made up of:

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • 5-in-1 styling treatment for all hair styles

They are all sulfate, oil and silicone-free. They shampoo and conditioner are supposed to work to keep your hair cleaner for longer, making it so you have to wash your hair less.

Living Proof was about to get one heck of a test. As someone who runs 8+ miles per day and gets sweaty doing it, I was excited to see if it made a difference in the amount that I must wash my hair.

Shampoo and Conditioner

I also looked forward to trying out the 5-in-1 styling treatment which is supposed to work all in one to provide volume, smoothness, strength, conditioning, heat protection, UV protection and static control. That is a whole lot for a little bottle to do!

5-in-1

I have been using the Living Proof line for the past week and am looking forward to continue seeing if it can live up to its name! I will be using this throughout an entire month and posting my results. Here we go!
