When did you first start blogging and why?

I started blogging because I wanted to help motivate people to be their fit and healthy best. As a stay-at-home mom coming from a marketing background, I also wanted to give myself a place to write again.

What is your most helpful blogging tip?

Connect with other bloggers! Not only is it fun to “meet” new people, but they are a great resource.

What is your favorite fitness activity?

Pilates! Which is why I’m a Pilates instructor.

What motivates you?

I find my motivation in looking back at how far I’ve come, especially when I look at the pictures from shortly after I had my second baby. I started my healthy living journey about 10 years ago and have stuck with it since then, but I really had to work hard after having my baby girl 1.5 years ago.

What has fitness changed about your life?

Laura Yoga

It’s improved my self confidence. I have control over how my body looks and it’s fun watching it shape up as I work on it.

What is your favorite pump up song?

I actually don’t listen to music when I exercise!

What is your favorite running distance?

4 miles

What is your favorite motivational quote/mantra?

I’m actually not big on quotes and don’t have any that come to mind. I think it would be inauthentic to go searching for one just for the sake of answering this question.

What is your favorite piece of running/fitness gear?

I don’t use any gear other than my workout clothes. As far as exercise equipment, I really like stretchy bands because they are easy to travel with and you can use them for so many exercises.

What is your favorite “treat”?

Ice cream!

What is a long term running or fitness goal you have for yourself?

I don’t really set fitness goals for myself. I’d like to complete some sort of race, but I’m pretty happy where I’m at. I’m constantly trying new workouts and upping my weights, so I’d just like to continue in that.

Tell us something unique about yourself.

I’m right handed, but I can only open bottles and jars with my left hand. My right hand is worthless when it comes to that!

If you could give one piece of advice to someone who is starting out running, what would it be?

Just do it! Don’t worry about going slow, just get out and do what you can. When I was first starting out again after having a baby, I could only jog for a minute at a time and that was super slow. After one year, I was comfortable doing five miles.

How do you find/make time to train?

I belong to the YMCA and the childcare is very inexpensive, so I go almost daily to get some me time.

What’s an accomplishment you are most proud of?

Becoming a Pilates instructor! It seemed to take forever to start the process of doing it and now I am one. I’m still working towards my certification, but have completed all the coursework. It will be even more exciting once I’m official!
